Gatekeeper Wheel

The Gatekeeper wheel is a completely self-contained unit consisting of a circuit board, battery, receiver, electric motor, and braking band. The Gatekeeper wheel comes fully assembled with its own caster.

Operation
The Gatekeeper wheel receives coded RF signals from in-store transmitters. The Gatekeeper wheel translates the coded signal and, depending on the specific signal received, triggers a the wheel to either engage or disengage the internal braking band. The wheel also translates a series of timed permission signals which allow or prohibit the wheel from exiting the store.

Form Factor
Standard-size wheel with replaceable non-marring anti-static rubber tread, sealed precision ball bearings, and standard caster.

Dimensions
5" diameter x 1 1/4" width.

Power Source
One replaceable CR123A, 3-volt lithium battery.

Microprocessor
Digital programmable CMOS (low power consumption) micro-processor.

Electronics Housing (Hubs)
High-tensile strength reinforced plastic with glass strands for extra strength and durability; dual O-rings provide watertight seal.

Battery Life
Approximately 4,000 cycles (one lock & one unlock).

DoorManager

Typically installed at each exit, the DoorManager contains a microprocessor that generates and transmits two distinct digitally-encoded signals that travel through wires embedded in the floor surface. The multi-functional DoorManager is capable of transmitting both a locking signal and an in-store timed permission signal. The wall-mountable enclosure also contains a power supply transformer and a filter to reduce electromagnetic interference.

Dimensions
7" high x 5 1/2" wide x 2 1/2" deep.

Microprocessor
Digital circuitry, factory-programmed and compliant with international regulations.

Signal Output
Below 9 KHZ and complies with FCC Part 15.

Battery Backup
12V non-memory Ni-Cd battery backup array supplies 10 hours of uninterrupted backup.

PurchaseManager

Mounted inside of each checkout, the PurchaseManager sends a wireless digital-coded signal to the Gatekeeper Wheel as it passes through an active checkout. The "exit permission signal" allows the paying customer to freely exit the store after making their purchase. The compact enclosure also contains a power supply transformer and a filter to reduce electromagnetic interference.

Dimensions
8 1/2" high x 4 1/2" wide x 2 1/2" deep.

Microprocessor
Digital circuitry, factory-programmed and compliant with international regulations.

Signal Output
Below 9 KHZ and complies with FCC Part 15.

Battery Backup
12V non-memory Ni-Cd battery backup array supplies 10 hours of uninterrupted backup.

CartKey

Handheld wireless device used to either unlock or lock Gatekeeper wheels. The CartKey sends a digital signal to the Gatekeeper wheel that automatically unlocks or locks the wheel.

Form Factor
Water-tight, high-strength plastic with shock-resistant rubber boot; touch pad features two individual sealed dome switches labeled "Lock" and "Unlock".

Dimensions
6 1/4" high x 3 1/2" wide x 1 1/4" deep.

Power Source
Field-serviceable CR123A, 3-volt, lithium battery identical to the one installed in the Gatekeeper wheel.

Signal Output
Below 9KHZ (VLF) and complies with FCC Part 15.

Signal Range
4' maximum range; optimal signal range: 18" - 48"; wireless signal range enables point-and-click unlocking.

Signal Antenna

For a standard purchek application, the cable is 22-gauge (AWG) insulated wire embedded in the existing floor surface, either in a scored groove in concrete, or in existing grout lines between ceramic tile floors.

Signal Range
The digital signal carried by the antennas has an effective range of 3 feet on either side of the embedded wire. The signal is adjustable and can be tuned to accommodate a variety of installation scenarios.

Dimensions
Outside diameter: 1/8".
