THE INSTALLATION PROCESS
There are four main elements to each CartControl System installation.
CentralTransmitter
The transmitter is wall-mounted on inside the store in a secure area, typically at the rear of the building near the receiving area or within store offices.
Perimeter Antenna
The antenna cable is embedded in a small, 1/4" wide by 1" deep precision saw cut around the designated parking lot perimeter. After the cable is embedded, the groove is sealed to the original surface level using a weatherproof sealant that matches the color of the existing surface.
Gatekeeper Wheel & Anti-Tilt Bar
One Gatekeeper wheel is installed on every store cart. The wheel directly replaces one of the existing front wheels. The Gatekeeper wheel is a standard-size shopping cart wheel and caster assembly that requires no modification to the existing cart.
Each shopping cart is also equipped with an anti-tilt bar. The anti-tilt bar is welded to the rear wheel horn on the opposite side of the locking wheel to prevent locked carts from being tilted back in order to continue rolling them. If the cart is tipped back, the anti-tilt bar will drag and snag on the ground, making the cart extremely difficult to push.
Customer Awareness Component
Perimeter striping and stenciling is uniformly measured, masked, and painted with highway-grade traffic paint. Parking lot signs are typically attached to existing light stanchions and/or signposts in the parking lot. Cart Signs are attached to each cart for maximum customer visibility.
